Murray downs Chela to reach semis for first time

Andy Murray did not want to spoil the party. For the first time since 2006, the four top seeds will meet in the Roland Garros semi-finals thanks to the Scotsman's impressive 7-6(2), 7-5, 6-2 victory over Juan Ignacio Chela. Murray was the last man to reach the final four after no.3 Roger Federer won on Tuesday, no.2 Novak Djokovic received a free passage when Fabio Fognini withdrew and no.1 Rafael Nadal scooted past Robin Soderling mere minutes before Murray raised his fist in triumph.
While Murray was favoured coming into the match as he had already taken Chela down twice before at Roland Garros, he knew that his task would difficult due to the tear in a tendon in his ankle suffered in the third round, restricting his movement. The upside of this injury has been his increased focused on taking the ball early, dictating play and not getting too strung out in points.
